Research out of Taiwan shows that shopping trips seem to be a key to longevity. Well, duh. No, really, I wouldn’t have thought that. Usually a trip to the mall leaves me more stressed than anything else but it would be nice to think that something as day to day as shopping was more of a boon than a bane.
Admittedly, it’s only one study and it really didn’t conclude anything about why shopping might be healthy: socialization? active movement? those who shop tend to be healthy anyway? But I take some small comfort in knowing that trying on a sexy pair of stilettos that I’d never buy (and shouldn’t walk in) isn’t as decadent as it feels.
